Time to seperate the men from the boys

Now that the ASG is behind us, we look to the second half of the season. The Rangers had a great first half in relation to what was expected of this team, but it's a long season and the question is do they have any staying power. If this ball club can get to 90 wins i'd say they had a great year, playoffs or not. What needs to happen for the Rangers to have a chance, the pitching will need to at least repeat the first half ( not easy to do for this staff ), same goes for the defense, but the single most important key to the second half i believe is that the bats don't go MIA for an extended period of time again. Kinsler needs to become a true lead-off hitter and get on base, and the free swingers have got to find a way to put balls in play. Would enjoy nothing more than to watch this team play meaningful baseball for the rest of the season.

  1. I don't think the pitching will hold up for the second half of the season and if it does the bats will have to come alive. Kinsler going to have to quit trying to go yard on every swing, the Rangers need him on base. We will see but we all know that the rangers fall off the face of the earth after the all star break. One question i would like to hear some opinions on is "Do you think Pujols will win the triple crown this season?"

  2. no, Pujols won't be able to pass Mauer for AVG.

  3. Yeah that might be true.

  4. I don't think their small ball game will improve. 45% of their runs this year have come from the home run. That's the highest in the whole league. Not sustainable.

  5. Rangers playing for the long ball. 0-2 since the all star break. Watching the game last night, Washington calls a steal for Elvis at first with Mauer behind the plate and 1 out with Young at the plate and Hambone on deck. Of course Elvis gets thrown out, now 2 outs and nobody on base and then Young gets a base hit. I question Washington decisions he makes at certain times in the game. Rangers won't keep up if they keep playing ball like this. FYI Rangers top 3 batters in the order 2-12 with 3 Ks and 6 LOB last night.
