Hamilton in, Davis out

When the Rangers get to the big "A" tonight, Josh Hamilton (the all-star???) is back and Chris Davis has been sent down to AAA. That leaves this club with six outfielders on the roster. I'm not sure why Borbon is on the roster, because he's not getting AB's or time in the field, and now that Hamilton is back i don't see that changing. Byrd and Murphy are swinging the hottest bats for the Rangers and my guess is Murphy will be designated to playing on days that righties are pitching. I think we are stunting the future of a player like Borbon, at the moment there just isn't a lot of room or situations to get him in the game.

If Chris Davis is going to remain a Ranger long term he has got to shorten his swing, and Hamilton needs to show some signs of last seasons greatness. Ham needs to show that last year wasn't a fluke at the plate, he's a great comeback story but has no business being in the all-star game.

  1. The Rangers reason for keeping Davis (per the ESPN telecast last night) They think they rushed Davis through the minor league system and that he never really had time to develop. The Rangers say that HE (Davis and not coaches) will have to learn to develop into a better hitter on his own. So don't think Davis will be sent sent down to the minors.

As for Ham, don't expect what you got out of him last season on his return from the DL. I will leave that at what it is and just watch and see if he ends up being a solid MLB player. Time will tell.

Big series for the Rangers starts tonight in, well i will just call them the angels because they should just go back to being called the California Angels, the Angels are getting back to playing good baseball again. Don't forget the Ranger killer (Vlad Guerrero) is starting to get hot at the plate!

  2. Davis is out, as of today he's at OKC. Just hoping Hamilton didn't pull a Gary Matthews and have one great year at the plate.

  3. Well like I said time will tell with Hamilton. My opinion is he will be a one year boy wonder. Davis will be back to break the strikeout record.
